Have a older version of Gallery (version 2.1) http://gallery.menalto.com/ installed on a site that does have Softaculous. This software was installed 3 years ago so Softaculous wasn't available to us at that time.

Question is, can this Gallery install be imported by Softaculous and then after import can we use Softaculous to upgrade to latest Gallery version (2.3.1)?

OK, after some searching I did find this page...
http://www.softaculous.com/docs/How_to_Import_an_Installation

After noticing that the latest version of Gallery in Softaculous was 3.0 as of the time of this post, I attempted to import the older version (2.1) into Softaculous.
And I received this error:

The following errors were found :
There were some errors while importing the software installed at http://somewebsite.com/gallery

I take it if there is going to be an import, the version that is being imported has to match the most current version in Softaculous?

I am following up on this post with my findings. The old install of Gallery 2.1 failed when trying to Import. We upgraded to the latest 2.x version of Gallery which is 2.3.1 and then tried Import again, again it failed. Then we installed a Gallery 3.0.1 and imported all photos over from 2.3.1, once that was done we tried to import to Softaculous and it was successful this time. So if you are going to import you will need to make all upgrades to match the version showing in Softaculous at the time of your Import.

Hope this helps any one else attempting the same.
