Dang, I'm sorry that MySQL still isn't working for you.  It's working for me as it did before.

No, depending upon your class you won't necessarily need MySQL but the phpMySQL is very handy.

I don't know whether it's possible to download that directly and have AMPPS recognize it.

http://www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page/

I hope this issue gets fixed soon.

Jacob,

I was able to update phpMyAdmin directly by downloading & unpacking from the phpMyAdmin site in the link above.

I just changed the ampps phpMyAdmin folder to phpMyAdmin_old and unpacked the downloaded contents to phpMyAdmin folder, then followed the directions for initial login.

Hope that helps.

Hi Diana,

How do you change the directions for initial login. Give an image of what you would do as I am a newbie to this.

Thanks for the response and I would like to say you could be a life saver.

Thanks, Jacob. :)

Hi Jacob,

Talk about the blind leading the blind...

The default phpMyAdmin login is

root

with initial password of

mysql

If those don't work for you let me know and I'll try to take some screenshots.

You can get into phpMyAdmin by right-clicking the AMPPS logo in the windows taskbar and choosing "AMPPS Home", then on the localhost webpage, choose phpMyAdmin.

Let me know how things turn out.  Sorry about the delay, have home chores today.

i have the same problem, after installing ampps 2.9 updates keep popup anytime first open ampps

You can stop the popup by editing your ampps.ini file located on whatever drive you have ampps installed on example below

C:\Ampps\ampps\ampps.ini
change  Update=true to Update=false

Hi guys,

I have tried entering the login details for myPHPAdmin as login = root and password = MySQL but that didn't work. I have also set up a ticket with the guys so hopefully I can get some help from them. Problem being I can't get MySQL to start up. Is there something I need to download other that the latest myPHPAdmin stuff.

Thanks, Jacob.

Hi Jacob,

I had the same problem trying to get MySQL to start up under ampps 2.9.  But taking that off and reinstalling 2.8 worked for me.

I did have problems finding a link to download 2.8, but posted that above.

Hopefully the support guys/gals will be able to assist.  If they find a fix I'd appreciate knowing what that is.

Best,
Diana

KnucklezRulez, I believe the password is case-sensitive so you would need to use mysql not MYSQL.

Hi From Australia...

Maybe in the use of English by a non-English born person the instructions for fixing the path statement didn't quite come across how a native English speaker would expect and this might be why you have trouble with your laptop.

Example: E:\ampps\http.conf.  As I read his instructions, I had to replace the whole line of code. But in reality it was only the first part of the statement. E:\ampps that need to be replaced. Al the rest is still valid. '$path' tells anything in Ampps looking for the location of files to go to the default directory of ampps, where ever it is.

Hope this helps For what you get Ampps is an exceptional package. Now  if only they can figure out how to write to the hosts file of Windows!

Right I have tried the changing of everything that is $path to where it exists on my laptop and that didn't work. So I am going to uninstall 2.9 and install 2.8. I hope that 2.8 will work and is there anything else I need to know about 2.8. Changes to any configure files or anything???

I use Windows every day... Opening one gives me fresh air  !

Time to dredge up a zombie thread, I guess. (What can I say? I live in the town where The Walking Dead production studio is. I'm very familiar with zombies.)

I found this thread after installing AMPPS on my MacBook and being unable to get Apache or PHP started when AMPPS started up. MySQL started fine, but Apache and PHP simply would not start up. The AMPPS version I'm using is 3.8 and I'm running OS X Mavericks 10.9.5.

After banging my head against the wall for a little while and reading this mostly useless thread it dawned on me that the fact that I already had Apache running might be interfering with AMPPS using/starting it for itself, so I turned off Apache. Then everything worked as it should in AMPPS. After reopening AMPPS, MySQL, Apache, and PHP were all running as they should. I tried a little additional testing to make sure - web serving (Apache) on, AMPPS didn't work. Web serving off, AMPPS works as it should.

So if you're having trouble, I would recommend that you check to see if you already have Apache enabled. If so, turn it off before trying to run AMPPS. At least that's what worked for me - no need to risk deleting any files. I can't say if this works on Windows, although I assume it probably does. It did work on my Mac.

For those who may not know how to turn Apache on/off already, there is a decent article here - http://best-mac-tips.com/2015/02/06/start-stop-os-x-web-server/

Also for those less familiar with Macspeak, starting the "web server" on a Mac is synonymous with starting Apache, as is enabling "web sharing" on earlier OS X versions.

I hope this saves someone some headaches.
