I read a guide on the softaculous webpage called "How to Restore a Backup on a New Server" (I'm not allowed to post links yet).

It says:

Quote
The backup will work fine only if the domain name and the path to the domain is the same as installation on old server.

This is a new host with a different domain name.

What do i do?

Thanks!  :D

Hi,

Since the domain and is different it will not be possible to restore it via Softaculous.

However you can restore the backup manually using the following guide :
http://www.softaculous.com/docs/Manual_Restore

Once the backup is restored you will need to manually change the occurrences of path and URL in the database and/or config files.

I have never done that before, do you have any resources that could explain how to accomplish that?

Thanks.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in response.

You can upload the tar.gz file of your backup to your installation path via File Manager and untar the same.

Now read the config file of your installation and find the database details. Once you have the database details create the database and database user and assign the database user to the database. You can do this step from your control panel.

After this you need to access phpMyAdmin from your control panel and import the softsql.sql file (which must be created after backup file untar) and once the database is imported you will need to delete the softsql.sql file.
