AMPPS 4.6.7 & PHP 5.6.9 on Win 7 Pro SP1 x64 4Gb server
How do I set up AMPPS on our interneal Windows 7 server to serve multiple development WordPress sites from a single internal IP.  Setting up the sites in AMPPS is covered at http://www.ampps.com/wiki/How_To_Use_Scripts_on_Local_Network but this doesn't seem to work since only one site is accessible from an internal workstation. Don't hosts or httpd.conf files have to be edited too? Terence.

Hi,

You can create multiple sites, follow the same wiki for other installations select the same domain which you created for first installation.

Then you can access both sites by,

http://<your_ip>/wpsite1

http://<your_ip>/wpsite2

Where/how are the sites named wpsite1 and wpsite2?  Where does that come from?  Terence.

Hi,

While installing WordPress install it in a sub-directory i.e wpsite1 and then you can again install it in sub-directory i.e wpsite2

OK, thanks I can see how that works.  But its seems a pretty kludgy way of doing it?  Why not just implement the AMPPS directory structure by having it edit the htttpd.conf file to show the real domain URL and let me edit my hosts file to see that internal IP as the domain?  Terence.

Hi,

You can add another domain as well in AMPPS.
ANd then install two seperate installations on the two domains.

e.g. you install wordpress on http://localhost

You can add another domain e.g. 192.168.1.10 and install wordpress there as well :
http://192.168.1.10

When you add a domain the APACHE conf is also updated.

This is what I mean about it being a bit kludgy.  Neither localhost nor 192.186.1.x are domains.  And supposing I wanted to have say 10, 20, or 500 development sites installed and maybe archived on AMPPS before they go live on an external host site, but for now, while in development, all on their relative "realdomainname.dev" sites.  How would I do that?  Terence.

I now understand what you want. You have 1 domain or IP and you want 500+ wp sites.

Now, you can do that as well.

Thats simple while installing via AMPPS you can give the PREFERRED directory name as well :

Please let us know if you need any further information.

Alons
