SOFTACULOUS TEAM : There will be NO ADS in Softaculous. This Topic was started when Softaculous was 100% free. This topic is now locked.

Hi,

I find that putting ads on softaculous website is a bad thing.
Why ? You show your customer the demos of Softaculous on your website and they see ads... They can find an other host on your website ... That's something bad, I find. What do you think ?

I understand that you would like to add some ads for this great software, but then it could be interesting for us to have an other website without ads to show the clients the demo and reviews ...

Softaculous is free, but every company has too make money someway. I sort of agree about the Ads on demos, but I dont see it as a major issue, perhaps option too turn demo off or host your own?

+1 for good thing, Alons and team deserve some financial reward for there effort

Yes, that's why I think too.

They could provide to licensed user a demo website without ads (for free or paid) or the ability to run our own demo / reviews hosted by ourself.

No. I think a paid version would damage Softlucos!

I believe for those who are bothered (Me not being one of them) you should add an option too change the demo links, allowing hosts too have there own demos.

Demos is not a easy thing to handle.
It requires updates every hour or it could lead to a security risk.

We have an isolated server for this purpose.

Regards,
Alons

My apologizes, I didn't made the difference between rating and demo website.

The fact I don't like on the ads, it's only that you have ads for other webhosting provider like one.com. That's the only thing I don't like.

I don't want that softacoulus become a paid software.

Maybe it's also possible to integrate better ads on the website.

The option to remove ratings links could be the solution.

My apologizes again, Softacoulus is a great script !

You dont need to apologize.
Its your views and we respect it and are giving serious thoughts on a solution.
What we have come up with is that in 2.0 there will be no link to Softaculous Ratings.
Instead a new feature to enable ratings without coming to Softaculous.com

I think there is ok for placing ads on the demo section, this is free stuff with great resource. How do we can make money for future development , while we give some thing free ? Ads is the solution, or maybe there is a donator out there..??? How about the ads that has no relation with any hosting services ..???
