My friend is very experienced with installing and
setting up websites... both html and WP

She's used multisites for years and suggested
that I set up one of my new sites as a multisite.

I was really excited because my hosting company
uses Softaculous and multisite is a built in
option...

So, installed WP/multisite and she went in
to help with setting it up.

I do not know what she means or what the
"problem" is...

she said that there was something screwy
with the multisite setup - but couldn't say
exactly what the problem was..

she had to uninstall my wp installation and
reinstall using fantastico to make it work as
she wanted it to work.

She did ask me if there was the option to
choose "subdomain" or "addon domain" in
the setup?

It's possible that that is the issue she was
having?

Sorry I'm so vague.  I know diddly about
multisite and she's away for several days...

I'm wanting to set up another multisite now...

thank you many bunches for any assistance/
insight...

Karen

Hi,

Yes you can choose the sub-domain or an addon domain to install the script from install form. Select your desired domain from "Choose Domain" dropdown.

Do let us know if you need any assistance.

Thank you kindly for your response...

In the softaculous installer from cpanel, there is a check box
beside this:

Enable Multisite (WPMU)
This feature will Enable Multisite option for your WordPress blog.
Your server must support Apache mod_rewrite to use this feature.

I do not see any place to choose addon/subdomain?

thank you kindly

Hi,

You want a sub-domain MultiSite ? By default WordPress allows MultiSite in sub-directory hence Softaculous allows installation of MultiSite in sub-directory.

However you can install WordPress on a sub-domain or an addon domain but MultiSite will be enabled for your sub-directory.
