My site hosted with arvixe refused to load since three days ago. The hosting company has big problems with their servers right now. How can I recover my files with arvixe?

Hi,

You will have to access to your server and take backup of your server. If you can not access to your server then only your hosting provider and help you recover the files.

Hi Mosco,

You can take a backup of your website using Softaculous backup utility. You can refer to our guide here for the same:
http://softaculous.com/docs/How_to_Backup_an_Installation

This backup is stored in /home/{USERNAME}/softaculous_backups/ tar.gz format. Download the archive and save it on some other server or your desktop.

You can use free open source FTP / SFTP clients like WinSCP or Filezilla to ssh to your server and follow the following steps to take backup of your website manually:
1. Goto /home/{USERNAME}/public_html/{directory} (Note: Specify directory if website is in a folder or leave it empty if website is in root folder)
2. Compress all the files to an archive i.e. .zip or .tar.gz and download the same.
3. Login into phpMyAdmin and take a dump of the database.

Save the above archive and database and your backup has been taken successfully.

Hope this helps. Please let us know if you need any further information. We will be happy to help you.
