Hi, I'm new to Mac and try to set up my server environment. I decided to use ampps because I can sync it with my windows pc via dropbox.

I installed ampps on my mac, the apache server seems to be running (i had to change the port), since I see the Apache started notice in the ampps GUI.

But when I go to localhost/ or localhost/ampps-admin I just get a "can't connect to localhost" in my browser.

I already tried the whole sudo apachectl start/stop thing to stop the "native" apache, to see if this is the problem, but without success.

Does anyone have an idea how to solve this annoyance?

I'm using OS X 10.9.2 and ampps 2.3.

if you changed the port then you will need to append the port to your browser. So far example you changed the port to 8080 you would type in the following in your browser

http://localhost:8080

This is simply due to the fact that browsers are set to default to port 80 on http or 443 on https.
