Hello!

A newbie here, so please bear with me...

I've just set up my server with CWP and Softaculous. What I'd like to do is to be able to install apps as root so that the apps are installed in the server root document directory instead of having to create a user and then install an app, which installs the apps to the user's doc path. Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Hi,

It is not possible to install apps as root. You will have to create a user in CWP to be able to add a domain. Only if you add a domain you will be able to access your installation.

Ok, that clears it. If you don't mind me asking (this is maybe not a Softaculous question), I see i can add the domain and assign it to a user; in this case, will the server's document root change to /home/username/public_html or do I need to do something?

Thanks so much for your reply!

Hi,

The control panel will handle it and you will not need to change the set the document root manually.
