Installed and tested and we love ampps on windows7..
We would like to host ostickets on support.domain.com
and wordpress on wordpress.domain.com etc. we have the
alias pointing to a static IP infront of the ampps box we have
installed. We have tried a few configs, one we thought would
work but had an error saying
Add an entry to Host File ?
Check to add an entry
Access Denied: You dont have permissions to edit hosts file. Entry wont be added to host file.

What is the best way to configure ampps to host the scripts in the way we would like to...

Complete Newbies to this..............

Hi,

To access hosts file , just turn off the UAC of Windows, you and AMPPS both should be able to access hosts file.

To disable UAC go to:

"Control Panel\System and Security" and select "Change User Account Control Settings" and disable UAC.

That did the trick but when we add a new domain such as test1.domain.com and test2.domain.com the entry's don't appear, also installing apps into the test1 and test2 domains don't load in the urls... I've seen a post on virtual hosting and having to edit conf files manually, is this the best way to proceed?

Hi,

Where are you looking for entries ?

Yes you can change conf files, but see to it that you take backup of working copy first.

Also files like httpd.conf, extra/alais.conf & extra/httpd-vhosts.conf are regenerated by AMPPS. So it would be better if you create your own conf file.
