Is it possible to have Subdomains for localhost?

I have several web projects I maintain. I'd like them to be in the www directory with a subdomain for each project:

//localhost    => /Applications/AMPPS/www
//project1.localhost    => /Applications/AMPPS/www/project1/
//project2.localhost    => /Applications/AMPPS/www/project2/
//project3.localhost    => /Applications/AMPPS/www/project3/
[/code]
How can I do that with AMPPS under OSX

I did that... I tried subdomain.localhost and used the path /Applications/AMPPS/www/subdomain/ but it didn't work.

It appears this question was never properly answered as was no response to second reply to user with recurring problem (perhpas because of its ambiguity)

I have the exact same problem. I've tried several configs on ampps_domainadd, including without www path for subdomain as suggested here.

However it always lands on root.

what else to try?

Actually my problem is solved now. I forgot that I'd tweaked my httpd.conf with a new documentroot a few months ago. Switching it back resolved the issue by allowing me to make subdomains (extending path to local domains within /Applications/AMPPS/www/ directory).

thanks
