I am running windows 7 and ampps. I can install wordpress and then change it to run multi-sites but at that point it requires me to use sub-domains.

I have searched search engines to no avail.

How can I install wordpress outside of ampps so I can go through the steps prior to install so I can use sub-domains?

I am new to ampps and wordpress requires a database prior to install. When I use php-admin within ampps I don't understand how to get a username and password.

Please help.
