Have you considered featuring integration with GPLhost.com's "Domain Technologie Control" (DTC) panel?

As this is a free script installer, it makes sense to feature integration with a free control panel.

We have already put that in our to do lists.
But we need to integrate with others as well.
If DTC itself would help us in the process we can start work ASAP.

I already made a post regarding this at GPLhost's forum:

DTC + Softaculous can very well be the #1 alternative to cPanel/Fantastico (at least I hope so).

At present we are working on Direct Admin and we will take up DTC or ISPconfig next

There is one major blocker here, in your license:

"You may NOT modify our Softaculous Code in any way, however you may
modify THEMES, LANGUAGES and the SCRIPTS INSTALLED by SOFTACULOUS based
on your needs.[li]Users may NOT, however, redistribute or repost/ resell for download
any part of this software (SOFTACULOUS PACKAGE) without expressed
written consent from the Softaculous Team. Redistribution is defined as
re-offering our scripts for download in any fashion, whether on a
competing web site, an application that generates code snippets, or a
CD-ROM collection of PHP codes etc. HOWEVER, you can redistribute only
the Scripts/Codes that are permitted by their respective licenses for
redistribution.[/li]

[li]Users agree not to remove/ edit the credit notice within the source code, or claim the code to be work of their own.

[/li][li]Users agree not to use this software for illegal purposes, or on sites containing illegal material.[/li]

[li]Users agree not to hold http://www.softaculous.com/ (Softaculous)
or any other copyright holder or developer of this software, liable for
any damages resulted from proper or improper use of any of this

Why not release your software as free software? This doesn't make sense.

Nearly ALL of our license page would be to be removed. Please read this:

You software, to be considered free in my eyes, and in the eyes of so many, have to match the rules stated in the above URL.

The clause of your license that is the worst of the worst is that you guys are forbidding that a 3rd party changes your code. NO WAY I would work with so much restrictions.

Can't you simply set yourself as FREE, using a BSD or LGPL license (or GPL of you don't want anyone to do commerce with your work) ? If you did, then there even would be a chance that someone (for example me) would do the Debian packaging work so your software gets included in Debian and Ubuntu. Like this, there is ZERO chance this happens.

At the moment there is no thought on making it GPL or somewhat like license.
Is it not possible to include a FREE software in your software.
If not then we ca still make the integration for the Panel an let individual Admins add Softaculous

It IS possible to include a FREE (as freedom) software in our panel, we in fact include quite some already. But it's always preferable to package them separately, so like if softaculous can be setup for other panels than DTC, then there's a single place in the distribution where to set it up. My intention was to do like this: make some Debian and RPM package for softaculous. But if you have a so much restrictive license, then I'm done, I can't do it, you are forbiding me to do so.

That is why I was asking: do you want to change the license, so that everyone has the rights to change your code?

I amsorry but the license is what we want at the moment.
We havent considered going Open Source.

Hello dear Alons and Thomas.

I'm sure there is a "middle term" possibility to enable integration.

Let's work this out. There has to be a way to achieve installation without changing source code.

The integration of the best control panel has to be -logically- with the best script installer: DTC + Softaculous.

I'm sorry, but I don't see any way of helping having softaculous integrate with our control panel if I don't even have the rights to modify a single line of code in it.

By way of right we can give rights and permissions to edit softpanel.php which is the integrator into any Panel.
We recently did that for Direct Admin.
But Thomas has to be sure this will not affect their License to include a Proprietory but FREE license that is not OPEN SOURCE!
We are always ready to integrate into control panels.
