Are there any plans to make this auto-upgrade option automatic. IE like the ability you have for Word Press. I noticed when I went to the control panel, basically this feature allows you upgrade Joomla from within cPanel, but for me it still requires logging into about 75 cPanel/Joomla sites!

I was hoping I could be able to tick the "auto upgrade" option, but even in the softculous admin settings->auto upgrade, Joomla is missing from being able to add it to auto upgrade. :(

Hi,

Yes we understand. We have enabled auto upgrade for Joomla. This means you need not to login to each installation but you can auto upgrade them directly.

You can enable auto upgrade to the existing installations by following the below mentioned sample documentation.

https://www.softaculous.com/docs/Auto_Upgrade_Installation#Enable_Auto_Upgrade_for_existing_installations

Let us know.

Hmm, that option does not exist when I checked a few of my Joomla sites.

Also it would nice when viewing a list of upgradable websites from the whm/softaculous control panel, rather then having only an option to email customers, include a box that can be checked to upgrade the site. That way when a major security issue comes up, we can tick a select all box and upgrade all the sites at once. All the Joomla websites I host, I manage, this would be a huge time saver.

Thanks for looking into this.

Yeah, double checked one more time, your example shows Wordpress. Try it with a Joomla site and I bet you'll see there's no auto update option, it (Joomla) hasn't been added into your list of CMS applications that can be auto upgraded.

Hi,

My sincere apologies. I was able to replicate this issue on our test server and have fixed the issue.

We have launched the package at Softaculous and shall be available to all our users in next couple of hours. I request you guys to wait for next couple of hours and fetch the latest package.

The CRON can be executed manually post few hours :
https://www.softaculous.com/docs/Immediate_Synchronize_with_Softaculous_Servers

Once this done, you can follow the same sample guide of WordPress and enable auto upgrade option for your installation.

Also you can upgrade all your scripts (which are eligible for upgrade) installed on that particular server at one click via Softaculous admin panel :
https://www.softaculous.com/docs/Admin_Upgrade_Installations

The list of scripts that we provide auto upgrade at Softaculous is here :
http://www.softaculous.com/softaculous/auto_upgrade

I apologize once again for misunderstanding.

Please check the same after couple of hours and it should be working fine.

Great! Auto upgrade now shows, and I'm also able to mass update from the whm/softaculous control panel. One issue, let me know if I'm going off topic.. :)

One other issue found. When I execute auto-upgrade, at least from the whm side, a backup of the site is being taken even though the site itself has backups (via softaculous) turned off. I have several sites that are way to big to backup locally and use other methods to backup all my sites.

Much appreciated, finally able to backup about 20 (smaller sites) with one click. Very nice!

I see how to update each site one-by-one, but is there a way to upgrade all Joomla installations at once?

I looked at all the options in WHM/Softaculous, but could not find this option to simply "select all" joomla installations, then change them to "auto upgrade".

Thank you

You can upgrade all at once per the post above:

https://www.softaculous.com/docs/Admin_Upgrade_Installations

However, I don't see away to set every site to "auto upgrade" without going into each site's control panel. At least you only need to do this once and from then on you're good!

I will wait for Parin's confirmation. Being able to set all Joomla sites to "auto upgrade" would be a great option for everybody.

Hi,

Sure glad to know that auto upgrade works fine.

Yes we do take a backup of the installation at the time of Auto upgrade, this is because if anything goes wrong during the process of auto up gradation, we do take this copy of backup and restore it for the user. This is mandatory and is recommended by Softaculous as safety norms.

However as you mentioned that it may occupy lot of space on your server because of these backups, you can disable auto backups at the time of auto upgrade by making a small change manually on your server.

You will need to access a file here :
/usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/softaculous/enduser/universal.php

{The above path is given assuming that you are using cPanel as your control panel}
and make the following changes manually :

$globals['off_backup_au'] = 1;

This shall stop taking backups at the time of Auto upgrade only.
However Softaculous does not recommend this as there are few possible reasons for an auto upgrade to fail which is beyond our scope and can be at server or network level as well.
Hence allowing Softaculous to take a backup at the time of Auto upgrade is highly recommended by us as it adds on to the safety of your/users installation as well.

Note : If you make the above mentioned changes in your universal.php, Softaculous won't take any backup before auto upgrading and if this fails, Softaculous won't be able to restore your installation as it does not have any and can disrupt your installation as well.

Hi,

Appreciate your co-operation with us.

At the moment there is no feature to enable auto upgrade for multiple installations via Softaculous admin panel. It can be enabled manually for each installation.

However, we understand the need at your end as well, as it can be a tedious task to access each installation and edit the same.

In this case, I request you to open a ticket with us and we can write a temporary script for your server and you can execute them once for enabling Auto upgrade for all your installations that are eligible. However this is something which shall be custom and we prefer to take this forward via ticket only.
