 Uninstalled stupid phpBB, now Softaculous won't install any other forum. (4 Replies, Read 5708 times)

I was having too many problems doing anything using phpBB. I couldn't even install the crap until Softaculous took the wheel. After installing it oh so easily with Softaculous I encountered huge problems trying to install phpBB's archaic manual mod installation system. Manual? REALLY. So I tried my hardest but eventually had to give up. I uninstalled phpBB by deleting the phpBB folder and contents within using WinSCP. I did some research and decided to use myBB instead. But now that I've deleted phpBB folder Softaculous won't install any other forum! I get this error each time - "The following errors were found: installation package could not be found." How do I fix this without PuTTY? I found this: Root> /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/bin/php /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/softaculous/cli.php --repair
but I'm a beginner and I don't want my web host to think I'm trying to hack them or something! I'll send any private information required for you to fix this through PM. Thanks.

*YOU* don't. Report it to your host. This is something your host has to deal with.

I contacted them before they opened on Thursday morning and they didn't respond all day. I sent a couple more emails and they only replied the next day, after I asked to cancel and get a refund. After that they replied Friday evening to confirm helping me with the Softaculous issue. Naturally I said "Yes please" and no response or assistance came through so I guess I gotta wait till Monday or Tuesday to start work on my website. Ugh, disappointing, total of like 4 days of bs. And what's up with the like 158 views on my question. Nobody here knows wtf is happening with this Softaculous error, not even the company employees themselves? Ridiculous. You guys need to focus more on Support.

Apparently the problem is Softaculous.

My web host deleted and recreated my account at my request and everything is working GREAT on their end. Unfortunately you guys are the problem, as I'm still getting that "installation package could not be found" error for every forum I try to install via Softaculous.

You guys need to look for bugs.

My account was fine, me deleting the phpbb folder didn't wreck anything. The problem is you.

Hi,

Extremely sorry for the delay in response.

The error you are getting "installation package could not be found" is because Softaculous is unable to download the script package on your server. This is due to permission issues for the Softaculous binary.

Can you please ask your web host to execute this command on the server as root :

/usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/bin/php /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/softaculous/cli.php --repair


You tried to execute the above command but that command must be executed as root as only the root user has access to the Softaculous binary file.

Once the above command is executed it should fix the binary file permissions and Softaculous will be able to download the script packages.

Do let us know if you still face the issue.
