I'm running current version AMPPS and have created several websites that are viewable perfectly only on the el capitan system they are resident on but am having all sorts of page not found issues and redirections to www root directory when trying to access the sites from anywhere else. the virtual hosts file seems correctly configured. I thought to try alias use. However when I enter mydomain.com in the alias manager it messages that special characters are not allowed. I can create an alias if I don't use a period in it - in other words I can create a mydomain alias ... but then that alias is rather useless ... isn't it? I read online that the alias manager was patched in a much older version and I would have thought the fix would be incorporated years later. But here we are .. so what's the deal? Am i missing something re the use of the Alias Manager? On another note - if I can get these sites accessible from the outside with any other advice ... that would be awesome too ... as right now ... this relative wordpress newbie is missing Bitnami which I used previously and painlessly. It might not be as feature rich ... but at least the darn thing was running in 30 min.
