Hi,

I have two websites that is using Oxwall and OSClass hosted in Bigrock. I decided to move to Webhostingbuzz. I already downloaded backup and backup information file from Bigrock. Kindly guide me to restore these websites in to Webhostingbuzz.

When I have read "How to Restore a Backup on a New Server" in Softaculous documentation I noticed recently they have changed the documentation. Previous documentation is saying:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5) In this case the file downloaded is named wp.344.2011-05-11_07-20-46.zip Here "344" is the installation id.

6) You will also have to download a backup information file which is located in your home directory at the following path once you FTP to your server .softaculous/backups/ the full path is /home/USERNAME/.softaculous/backups/. Download the file name corresponding to your backup. In this case it is wp.344.2011-05-11_07-20-46

7) Now on your new server go to Wordpress and make a dummy installation with the same Directory Name and Database Name. In this case it is "wp" and "wp".

8) Note the installation id of the dummy installation. You can do this by clicking on the backup link and check the URL the last characters will be the installation id. Here YOUR SOFTACULOUS URL/index.live.php?act=backup&insid=346 this is the URL and 346 is the installation id.

9) Now replace the current installation id in the backup zip and the backup information file that you downloaded the zip package was wp.344.2011-05-11_07-20-46.zip and now it becomes wp.346.2011-05-11_07-20-46.zip and the backup information file was wp.344.2011-05-11_07-20-46 and now it becomes wp.346.2011-05-11_07-20-46.

10) Copy this backup zip on your new server at the following path /home/USERNAME/softaculous_backups/

11) Also copy the backup information file to to your new server at the following path /home/USERNAME/.softaculous/backups/

12) Now go to the Backups Page on the new server.

13) You can see the installation with the new installation id. Just Restore that installation as shown in the figure below and your Old installation is Restored and ready to use.

New documentation is saying:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5) Copy this backup file on your new server at the following path /home/USERNAME/softaculous_backups/

6) Now go to the Backups Page on the new server.

7) You can see your backup listed here. Just Restore that backup as shown in the figure below and your Old installation is Restored and ready to use.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bit confused about this since the database name in Bigrock will be different from database name that will be created in Webhostingbuzz by the Softaculous installer.

Hi,

Is your cPanel username same ?

Softaculous will create the database as per the records in backup file.

Is you backup listed on the Backups page at your new host ?

Hi,

The cPanel username should be the same to avoid issues since the database name will have the cPanel username as the prefix and the path to your domain will also depend on the cPanel username.

Hello Brijesh,
I requested WHB to change username to what I was using with Bigrock and they have done it  :D Now can I proceed according to the newest documentation provided in Softaculous wiki?

Regards,
KK

Yes database name and database user exist. Do we need to change the database password? For your information the backup was taken on 27-1-2015 (before Bigrock hosting expiry date) and your manual new version.

Can you please delete the database and database user and then try to restore, Softaculous will create the database and database user.
Make sure you do not have anything important in your database before deleting it.
