Topic : issue with mysql database connection on install and hsphere

Posted By: aneinet on November 16, 2011, 11:53 pm
Have Softaculous 3.7 installed on Hsphere 3.5.

For any app installs it fails on the mysql portion. In the hsphere cp logs I can see the commands being executed and the database being created but then it deletes the database and softaculous reports the following error.

There are no errors in the php_error.log There are no errors in the hsphere.log. It does this for all softaculous apps that include a mysql database. The mysql database is on the same server as the web server and that the softaculous scripts are installed on.

The following errors were found :

  • The MySQL Connection could not be established.

For reference, if you use the setting to generate database name automatically and the database name is less than 5 characters, it causes the install to fail due to there being a 5 character minimum for the username.  This appears to be a bug in softaculous, the error message is obviously not the most helpful.

Hi,

We have tested this on our servers and even the username with less than 5 characters are created.
Which panel are you using ?
If it is H-Sphere then you must have set some custom settings which does not allow to create username with less than 5 characters.
If you can open a support ticket with a test account details we will check the issue.

Also regarding the error message we will improve it.
