I am trying to install Wordpress on my local server that is running OS X Server. I have setup AMPPS and have set the #LISTEN to "Listen 192.168.1.200:8081", so I am able to access the local server by going to http://192.168.1.200:8081 and it pulls up the /www directory for AMPPS.

All of my Wordpress installs are not working. I have even tried to add a domain for 192.168.1.200 and it still does not allow me to access my websites.

My goal is to setup a local network and also allow remote connection to my wordpress sites. My router is already setup to port forward to 8081 from the outside traffic.

Can anyone help?

Hi,

We don't recommend to change the port as all the scripts don't work on ports other than 80. So we have configured AMPPS accordingly.

We can help you setup local network. but we wont be able to help you much for remote connection.

Write Listen 8081 instead of Listen 192.168.1.200:8081

Can you attach your /Applications/AMPPS/apache/conf/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf here ?

Hi,

Delete this domain. Let the Apache restart.

Then create a new domain from Enduser Panel.
1. Enter the domain name.
2. Addon Domain (Keep it as check)
3. Domain Path
4. SSL Entry (Optional)
5. In advance settings, Check Add an entry to Host File ? (This step is must if you want your domain to work locally. This will add a entry to hosts file. If ampps is not able to add due to permissions, add it manually. Keep it check always)

Let the apache restart.

I followed your instructions exactly. The only thing I didn't understand what manually adding the IP to the hostfile. I added it but I don't think I did it correctly. Here is how I added it.

192.168.1.200    http://192.168.1.200:8081

I am still getting the error after I install Wordpress to the new domain, it's not working.

http://192.168.1.200/wp

I am getting "Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to 192.168.1.200"

I don't know what else to try.

Hi,

The host file entry should be :
Code
127.0.0.1 domain.com

And the virtualhost file should contain :
<VirtualHost 127.0.0.1:80>

This line will be generated when you check the option Add an entry to host file in advance option

AND

if you want computers in your network to access through ip then don't add entry in host file also dont check the option. Simply put the Local IP as a Domain Name.

thanks for this
this is the solution http://www.ampps.com/wiki/How_To_Use_Scripts_on_Local_Network

in case anyone else is trying to install wordpress through an installer backup like me, DO NOT access your domain-IP from localhost and start the installation but directly from your domain-IP you did the domain installation ex. 192.168.x.x other wise you ll waste a good sunday's afternoon trying to figure out why the content does not load remotely on the other machines (because its trying to access it from localhost\domain-IP rather than domain-IP)
