Hi,

Can you please add an option for an end user to change the default installation email address?

Most users don't use their cpanel username as email address. For example, a site called "mydomain.com" might have a username "mydomain", but the client will use "bob@mydomain.com", instead of "mydomain@mydomain.com". So, now on the installation, Bob has to change the email address of the installed script - i.e. for the admin user every time he installs a script

This can be done already.
Please go to the mail settings from the JS Dock next to the Softaculous Logo.

Regards,
ALons

I think you misunderstood me. When a script is installed, you have an option to specify a default email for the admin. This email is in the format of the cPanel-username@domainname
.

Even if you do change the email address in Softaclous, it doesn't change this default email

Well thats a feature we implemented to help admins save the time of typing the same email address again and again.
And also a default value needed to be there.
Hence we added that.
It can be overridden if you just type something into it. Then it will not do anything to that field.

Yes, I know what it does :)

BUT, you still need to retype it for every script you install / reinstall. And for someone like us (we do web design & development as well), who manages many client's websites, it almost a nuisance. What I'm asking, is if we can override that default, on a per domain basis.

or, alternatively, could you use the same email address that the client's has assigned as his contact email in cPanel?

Yes we can but how will there be a distinction between who wants that feature and people who want your feature.
What we can do is that we can have a JS link.
It will fill the email field with the default user email that one has fed into softaculous.

well, it was a suggestion, since the user already defines his email address in cPanel :)

We appreciate your feedback and your liking towards Softaculous as well of your desire to make softaculous even better.

I have suggested a work around in my above post.
Please let us know of your opinions

Thank you for considering my opinion :)

Both options will probably deliver the same results, but I think by using the user's default contact email in cPanel the end user won't need to add an email to the script installer as well.

BUT, as a suggest, leave the field there (pre-filled with the cPanel contact email) so that the user can still change it if he needs to. For example, bob has thisismydomain.com, and his email is bob@mycompany.com, so bob's default email may me set to bob@mycompany.com instead of thisismy@thisismydomain.com.

Now when bob installs say Drupal, he wants the default admin email to be bob@mycompany.com. But, tomorrow he installs phpList and want July to be the default admin (since she will manage the mailing lists for him), so he wants to change it to july@mycompany.com

Doe this make sens?

So you're talking something along the lines of what Fantastico has?  Where it has the box on the setup screen about "Default Email Address" that can be configured on a per setup basis, but starts with the cPanel email in the field by default?
