so let's say that you are setting up a wordpress installation on your server for a client who already has a working website on another server that you are re-doing.  What we typically do is use a backdoor url such as http://server.name.com/~username (from directadmin) and work on it until it is complete so that the current website doesnt go down while the new one is being built.  Problem is that when using softaculous we are not able to use the backdoor url... it only allows the domain to be selected from the domains that user has set up.  if we were installing wordpress directly we can put in the temporary url as the wordpress address and it works fine... how would we go about doing that with softaculious?

Hi,

You need to enabled User MOD dir from Softaculous Admin panel. Go to Softaculous Admin panel -> Settings select the "Use USER MOD DIR" check box and click on Edit Settings button. You will now get the :
http://server.name.com/~username
under the domains drop down.
