Softaculous

Topic : Where is Softaculous installed?

Posted By: lrussell on June 5, 2012, 12:07 pm
Hi,
I would like to add a custom script to my softaculous installation, so I looked for /var/softaculous as suggested in various posts and the custom scripts directions. However, this directory doesn't exist in my account. I have a hosting reseller account and I wonder if the license is restricted in some way? I also checked under Softaculous Settings in WHM, and I can see a few settings but no references to where the installation directory might be.

Any suggestions welcome!

Thanks

Hi,

Sir are you logged in as root when you SSH to the server ?
This directory is accessible only if you are logged in as root or you have root privileges.

Thanks for the quick reply Brijesh. I guess the problem is due to being on a shared host, and therefore not being able to log in as root. Maybe I need to contact my host, unless I can somehow tell Softaculous to find my custom package in a different directory?

I have a .softaculous directory in the user directory, can I use this somehow?

Hi,

Sir you will have to ask your host to allow you to access to /var/softaculous/
It is possible to change the path of the location of scripts but this again will require root login details to login to WHM.

The .softaculous directory is the directory where Softaculous stores the installation and backup details of the users. You will not be able to add the custom script here.
