I just upgraded ampps to 3.6 and all is good except when I change php 7.

The CMS I'm using, Craft, requires PHP multibyte string which I've enabled via the extensions option and also checked by opening /php/php.ini and I can see it there.

extension=php_mbstring.dll

I also tried adding the following to php.ini but it didn't make a change and I've removed it.

extension_dir = "D:\Ampps\php\ext"

Please advise.

Windows 10 fully updated

Ever since upgrading to 3.6 whenever I quit AMPPS and relaunch it, my app can't connect to the database stating mbstring issue.
I go to the PHP config and mbstring is still checked but I have to uncheck it then recheck it and save.  Restart apache and restart mysql and then it works.
Must be a 3.6 bug.

I've done that and it doesn't help me.

Try this:

Open AMPPS Control panel --> PHP Tab --> Click on Settings button --> Select Restore Default Configuration.

Having the same issue on a Mac Pro running Mac OSX Yosemite 10.5.5.  Restoring the default configuration works, but is this a bug that will be fixed or something that we will have to do every time we start ampps?
