Hello,

I am considering the feasibility of switching from the Mac OS X version of MAMP PRO to the Mac OS X version of AMPPS, and I have a few important questions which I hope the AMPPS developers and/or forum users can answer for me.

1. Does AMPPS have an easy-to-use GUI interface similar to MAMP PRO where the user can quickly set up multiple virtual hosts, quickly set the various ports (Apache, Apache SSL and MySQL), quickly set the folder path to each virtual host, etc.? Or does AMPPS require fiddling with a multitude of config files with the nano editor, manually messing with the hosts file, etc.? I am not talking about just the ability to  turn the Apache and my SQL servers on and off via a GUI. I need more control like with MAMP PRO.

2. Currently, with MAMP PRO, I host four different websites/domain names, each in their own self-contained directory. Is there an easy way to migrate everything -- as is -- from MAMP PRO to AMPPS without losing anything or messing things up?

3. I run a well-established four-year-old WP blog with hundreds of pages of blog entries within one of the aforementioned virtual hosts. Would it be easy to migrate my WP blog to a AMPPS setup without losing any of the mySQL data and other data? In other words, could I transparently transfer my blog to AMPPS without my visitors even realizing that there has been a change under the hood? This is a make or break deal for me regarding AMPPS.

4. I run two messageboards from within MAMP PRO's global cgi-bin. Would it be possible to easily migrate these two forums from MAMP PRO to AMPPS without losing anything?

5. Does AMPPS use its own proprietary Apache, mySQL and PHP installations, or is AMPPS simply a GUI wrapper for OS X's built-in Apache, mySQL and PHP installations?

6. Is AMPPS currently fully compatible with the El Capitan Golden Master?

As I said, clear answers to these questions is key in determining whether or not I should even consider a switch from MAMP PRO to AMPPS.

Thanks in advance to anyone who may choose to respond.

1)  Better
2) totally easy , move your apps , or  change the root folder as described here (at the end) :  http://www.softaculous.com/board/index.php?tid=4413&tpg=3&title=Changing_www_root_path_on_MAC, export your database and reimport in/with Ampps phpmyadmin
3) I cannot help with WP , but move all as  number 2)
4) same as 3 I guess
5) all pre installed ,  ready to use
6) no idea

don't forget that default  password in MAMP mysl = root , in AMPPS mysql = mysql
but you can change it easily in AMPPS settings
