I would suggest mybb. My friend told me that he find mybb alot better less spam and the seo mods work a treat it looks nice and the ACP is easy to use oh and the mods go in just like VB none of this takes 2 hours 50000 file mods like phpbb.

That is kind of a generalization, to say that mybb forums have less spam than phpbb. Almost all anti-spam measures can be overcome by people, unless serious measures are implemented. If your forum isn't of high value, people won't even want to spam it. There are other factors.

MyBB may have less spam than phpBB but that isn't just because of security/spam filters - there are less spamming softwares made for MyBB since phpBB is more popular.

However, I do definitely prefer the admin area of MyBB over phpBB.

I would suggest using Mybb. There are lots of mods and themes out there for mybb. It is also admin and user friendly. I consider Mybb one of the best free source forum software.

PhpBB is much better than MyBB, but I could argue til blue in the face so lets leave it both scripts have their good and bad points. :)

MyBB has huge amount of modules plus the support forum which is great. I have seen several lot of people migrating from phpBB to myBB, but never the other way around.

Why not try vBulletin instead? It has a reputation for being more secure. Plus, it can handle larger numbers of members and have a bigger number of plugins and
addons available for customization.

Yes but not everyone can afford vBulletin sir. Also MyBB or phpBB are equally good.

There is absolutely no truth to the idea that vBulletin can handle larger numbers of members. There are plenty of huge forums running on free sotware doing just fine.

I agree and SMF is one such good software.
My first forum theme was made for SMF. Its one cool software.

I would go with phpbb over mybb, more mods I believe and it's just more secure and more updates in my humble opinion.

I will also vote for mybb. It comes with less spam. Phpbb is little complicated, so it is good for you to go with mybb as a beginner. I already have a forum thread with mybb which is running great.

Thanks for taking the time to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and love learning more on this topic. If possible, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more information? It is extremely helpful for me.
Thanks again and good luck!... ;) ;) ;)
