I have AMPPS 2.5 running on a Mac
When I run Amupdate, I get spinning ball for a few seconds, then nothing.

Under AMPPS I installed SuiteCRM but I can't update that to the latest version because the Update Wizard in SuiteCRM won't work. The installer for the update file can be selected, but won't update, I get the error:
ERROR: There was an error during your upload, please contact an administrator for help.
* Size of Upload (10468700 bytes) Exceeded Allowed Maximum: 8388608 bytes
Even though I changed the php.ini file to allow a much larger maximum.

I'm thinking something is wrong with php within AMPPS (I tried both php 5.5 & 5.6)
I'm hoping that a current version of AMPPS might solve a host of problems.
First step? How to upgrade AMPPS when the updater breaks.

Unfortunately when I had this issue I didn't seem to get a response from the forum

First determine whether you really need to upgrade by seeing the versions of php etc that you have and whether you need newer ones...

If so then

First thing to try is right clicking amupdate.exe and running as administrator

If you get some dll missing errors, then I would stop and go all out with what I did in the end:

In the end I made a backup copy of the Ampps folder and then downloaded the sql tables from phpmyadmin

Then I uninstalled Ampps and reinstalled the newest version

Put my site folders back into www

Made the same databases and imported the sql files

Checked my php.ini, httpd.conf and vhosts files to ensure any changes I made were made again with the new install

My issue was worse because it was refusing to change the php version atvall

But the above fixed it for me.....bear in mind I did manual installs without using softaculous or ampps admin

In those cases I think you can export/backup your installations from there and reimport...

Thank your for coming back with an idea.
I did download the latest version, but I haven't tried a manual install yet.
I'm still learning about LAMP and don't feel I have the skills to tackle exporting databases and modifying php.ini, httpd.conf and vhosts or other files that could be different between a new and old installation.

I'm running AMPPS on a Mac rather than using the system LAMP (BSD Unix) which is native to the Mac. I have so much to learn about using Linux-based open source software. I was hoping Softaculous would have someone dedicated to the forum who could suggest an "authorized" approach to upgrades since they created the software.

I did learn that you can't change the name of the AMPPS directory or it won't work right, I wanted to call it AMPPS 3.5 to identify it different from my old install, but that crashed it. Don't know why. I guess there's a lot of hardcoded stuff in there.
