In advanced settings for WP installs:

If checked, this installation will be automatically upgraded to the latest version when a new version is available.

Which seems weird since WP upgrades itself now. What's not entirely clear is whether that option just allows WP to upgrade itself (doesn't block WP auto-upgrade) or if it means Softaculous will attempt to upgrade the install in the future. I'm assuming it's the latter, and that that could potentially introduce conflicts with WP's own update system.

If it's the latter, I'd like to disable the option for all of my hosting customers. Does anyone know how?

Hi,

The auto update option in WordPress is enabled for minor version by default.
The option in Softaculous will upgrade both minor and major versions. Also before upgrading the installation Softaculous will check the actual version of the installation (i.e. is it already updated) and Softaculous will upgrade only if the installation is outdated otherwise Softaculous will just update the Softaculous records. It should not conflict with the WordPress auto update.

If you want to disable the auto upgrade option you need to go to Softaculous Admin panel -> Settings -> Auto Upgrade and select the scripts for which you want to disable auto upgrade.
Here is the guide :

Thanks a bunch for the info! Sounds like it's all very well considered and safe. Nice to know there's an option there for major version updates.

Appreciated.
