MySQL default root password, AMPPS seems to have set unknown MySQL root password with installation (5 Replies, Read 326578 times)

I just installed AMPPs, and launching it, the first thing I noticed was that it was unsecured. So I set a password for it. Then, in the security center, I found that MySQLAdmin was unsecured as well (expectedly), but the MySQL server was secured, although I had not set a root password for it. Now I cannot log in to either MySQLAdmin or MySQL server, as I do not have the password. No "Forgot password" option is provided here either. Looks like a default password was set during installation, or some hick-up happened. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Or to find out what that ominous default pw is? Or is there a way of resetting the root pw? Thanks in advance
