Hi,

The Softaculous team is EXTREMELY excited to announce the addition of WordPress MU - Multi User :
http://mu.wordpress.org/

Version : 2.8.5.2

WordPress MU, or multi-user, is designed to do exactly that. It is most famously used for WordPress.com where it serves tens of millions of hits on millions of blogs each day.

We hope you enjoy this addition as well.

Regards,
The Softaculous Team

Great news! I just noticed one thing though when I got an e-mail from cPanel/Softaculous regarding this package. It seems it's not updating itself.

The following software were updated during Automatic Cron
Updates:

WordPress MU 2.8.5.2 - Failed

WordPress MU

Software not found.....Needs Update

Deleting previous files......

Fetching Latest File......Saved the Latest File Unzipping
the files......Error unzipping......Continuing

Doing it manually seems to work though.

That's great, but really annoying as it'll take about 2 weeks for this to come through on my cPanel - x10hosting. At least I know it's out!!! YAY!!

EDIT...
It only took 3 days! Lol

It will update the next time CRON runs !

Also for plugins - we dont include them by default. You will have to install plgins manually. If Softaculous includes plugins many users may not like it!

I fixed it, did another install with username admin, and worked perfectly UNTIL it was removed from the free plan!

All,
Cron job is being executed as the root user. Downloaded fie like openx.zip will have root.root ownership. /admin/cron.php is "IonCubbed" (Softaculous paranoia) and this is only my wild guess that it is executed as your admin user. Since downloaded file is locked to root...
I had to delete stalled zip files from /var/softaculous and execute update from within the plugin's administration panel.

Hope this helps.

A root user can write to any directory.
Hence the CRON is run as root.

Permissions basics - do the exercise:

1. Execute something as root.
2. Use the result as executable and execute as another user (unless it is recommended to run everything as root user as security prerequisite for Softaculous plugin)

If you can not see a problem here with Softaculous cron then I'm giving up.

Good luck with it anyway.
