Hi

I have been using solusvm for awhile now and the features released in my opinion is not well done aswell as the client area has not had much attention.

The most important thing for us though is to migrate all our Xen HVM vps servers running a few windows 2012 vps guests to KVM instead. is there such an easy to use tool in virtualizor? If so I am definitely changing over today.

Yes, you can migrate you Xen HVM VPSs to Virtualizor KVM.
However there is no automated tool to do that, it has to be done manually and definitely we will guide you throughout the migration process.

There is not documentation in virtualizor at the moment.

You can follow these steps to convert your XEN HVM VPS to to KVM VPS on Virtualizor
1. Shutdown the VPS which you want to transfer , for example v1001

2. Access that slave server and run: dd if=<disk-path> of=/home/backup/v1002.img bs=1M. You can get the disk path from virtualizor database > VPS table > disks column > path, through phpmyadmin

3. SCP, FTP.etc  the backup image to new KVM server.

4. Create a new KVM VPS in virtualizor with the same configuration and shutdown that VPS

5. Execute, dd if=/backup/v1002.img of=<new-vps-disk-path> bs=1M (You can get the disk-path from Virtualizor DB)

6. After the command is completed just start the VPS.

there is a problem with this method. I imported existing xenserver vm into Virtualizor using this guideline:
http://www.virtualizor.com/wiki/Importing_into_Virtualizor_XenServer

(There should be a hint in this guide that xentools need to be removed upfront or the new vm will crash.)

The vm is running well after importing.

When I look into the database, I find path like this:
/dev/VG_XenStorage-cafc98e8-aa0c-f335-3398-8d7a334246ca/LV-0539b7ae-6def-4f5f-830d-c341f9c5f7d1

but This file does not exist.

Is it possible that imported vm keep their own location for storage and virtualizor does´nt get it?

Michael

Hi,

Virtualizor retrieves  the DISK path of the VPS i.e the LVM path dynamically.
We do update the disk path after the VPS is created in virtualizor.
But as these VMs are imported the DB is not updated.
Virtualizor will use the original LVM path and not the one in the DB.
