I've got ampps installed and working with several sites. However I am unable to change permissions on any folders. In filezilla after ftping into the localhost and right clicking a folder I see this:

Changing to 777 and hitting okay appears to work, but when re-checking nothing is changed.

When I used xampp I did the above and it worked everytime.

please advise.

According to my experience, it will refresh in the server side, however doesn't show immediately from your Filezilla panel. Pls try to disconnect and reconnect it, mostly you will see it works.
