1. Change the Document Root
Edit the Apache configuration file (httpd.conf) and update the default AMPPS www path.
Open httpd.confLocate the following lines:
    DocumentRoot "{$path}/www"
    <Directory "{$path}/www">
Replace them with your new path. For example:
    DocumentRoot "/Users/pc/www"
    <Directory "/Users/pc/www">
Save the file and restart the AMPPS server.
Quote
Note:
AMPPS Softaculous auto-installer still uses the default internal www directory.
If you install apps like WordPress or Joomla, they will be created in the default location.
To use them in your new directory, you’ll need to manually move or migrate those installations.

2. Use Alias Manager
AMPPS also provides an Alias Manager, which lets you map any folder on your system to a URL.
For example, you can create an alias such that:http://localhost/your_site
points to your custom folder.
This allows you to keep your files outside the default www directory without modifying the main Document Root.

<![CDATA[AMPPS install on MacOS on the external drive]]> https://www.softaculous.com/board/index.php?tid=20489&tpg=1#p60284
Understandably, you'd want to manage your development environment on an external drive

Unfortunately, due to how AMPPS is architected on macOS, it is designed to be installed specifically in the /Applications folder on your main system drive. Even if the installer appears to allow other locations, the core services (like Apache, MySQL, etc.) are configured to look for necessary files and configurations within the structure created under /Applications/AMPPS. Installing it elsewhere will likely lead to broken paths and services that fail to start correctly.]]>

How can I edit the location of the live site so that I can push the stage site to the correct location - the root directory?

example:
original website import: /public_html/subdirectory
current live site location: /public_html/
staging location: staging.domain.org

This is the issue:
Push to live wordpress - Current staging site will be pushed to your live site: /public_html/subdirectory

I am unsure what setting would be causing it to not show the correct document root. How can I edit the live site location so that the stage site will push to the current live site location?

Thanks,

Softaculous is still reading the old install path from its records. You’ll need to edit the installation details inside Softaculous → WordPress Manager / Installations and update the live site’s “Directory” field to blank (/). Once that’s corrected, the staging push should detect the proper root folder.]]>
