It is not a Distro problem but a kernel problem.
You can use Debian 7 but make sure to re-install your server with  'use original/distribution kernel'option  selected on last step while installing the OS from OVH panel.

Your server is not able to boot to OpenVZ kernel.
Re-install your server with  'use original/distribution kernel' selected on last step while installing the OS from OVH panel.
If you still face the kernel error, then you will need to ask your data center if its possible to install stock Debian kernel on their server ?
