Softaculous https://www.softaculous.com/board/index.php? <![CDATA[Thelia V2]]> https://www.softaculous.com/board/index.php?tid=5456&tpg=1#p62629 I’m currently using Thelia V2.6.0 (installed via Softaculous through my cPanel at O2Switch.fr). However, this software has evolved significantly over the last few months. Updating Thelia is difficult for someone like me, as I’m not a webmaster specialising in command-line operations. I’m relying on the Softaculous script to update my Thelia installation to the new V3.1.x version. Do you think it will be possible to upgrade from Thelia V2 to Thelia V3 via Softaculous in the future?

Another thing: I’m currently using Thelia 2.6.0. My Softaculous shows version 2.6.2 as available but doesn’t offer to install it (the two small spinning blue arrows). Do you have any idea why?

Thanks for everything. I discovered Softaculous recently and I love using it.

<![CDATA[Best way to integrate Varnish 8 with Webuzo Nginx -> Apache stack and keep it update safe]]> https://www.softaculous.com/board/index.php?tid=22265&tpg=1#p62627
I’m running a recent Webuzo server on Ubuntu 24.04.5 LTS.

The current web stack is:

Code

Internet
 ↓
Nginx :80 / :443
 ↓
Apache :8081 / :8082
 ↓
PHP-FPM

Nginx is handling the public HTTP/HTTPS traffic and SSL termination, while Apache is running behind it.

I would like to add Varnish between Nginx and Apache, so the final architecture would be:

Code

Internet
 ↓
Nginx :80 / :443
 ↓
Varnish
 ↓
Apache :8081 / :8082
 ↓
PHP-FPM

The main use case is WordPress/WooCommerce hosting.

I do not want to compile Vinyl/Varnish 9 from source.

My current preference is to install Varnish Cache 8.0.2 using the official Ubuntu 24.04/Noble APT repository/package, and manage the Varnish package separately from Webuzo.

My biggest concern is making the implementation fully compatible with Webuzo updates and vhost rebuilds.

I noticed that the installed Webuzo version contains Varnish-related code, including:

Code

/usr/local/webuzo/includes/admin/varnish_conf.php
/usr/local/webuzo/includes/enduser/varnish_conf.php

I have also seen Varnish-related options mentioned in Webuzo documentation.

Before implementing this, I would like some clarification from the Webuzo team.

1. Is Nginx → Varnish → Apache → PHP-FPM an officially supported Webuzo configuration today?

2. Does Webuzo require its own Varnish package/application, or can we install and manage Varnish 8.0.2 independently through APT?

3. If Varnish is installed externally, can the Webuzo Varnish/Nginx integration still be used only for the proxy/vhost configuration?

4. Which configuration files or custom include locations should be used so that our Varnish integration survives:

Code

[*]Webuzo updates
[*]Nginx rebuilds
[*]Apache rebuilds
[*]vhost rebuilds
[*]new domain creation

5. Is there an officially supported custom template/hook/include mechanism for changing the Nginx upstream from Apache directly to Varnish without modifying generated files such as webuzoVH.conf?

6. Which Varnish port/layout does Webuzo expect by default?

7. Does Webuzo automatically generate the required Nginx configuration for both HTTP and HTTPS when Varnish is enabled, while keeping SSL termination on Nginx?

8. Are there any known limitations with Varnish 8.x compared to the Varnish version currently provided by Webuzo?

9. For WooCommerce, does Webuzo provide any default VCL or cache exclusions for cart, checkout, logged-in users, WooCommerce session cookies, AJAX/Store API requests, etc., or is the VCL entirely left to the administrator?

Our goal is to keep responsibilities separated:

Code

Webuzo:
- Nginx
- Apache
- SSL
- vhosts
- domain provisioning

APT / systemd:
- Varnish 8.0.2

Custom configuration:
- WordPress/WooCommerce VCL
- cache rules
- cookie handling
- purge/grace settings

The important requirement is that we do not want to patch Webuzo core files or generated Nginx/Apache configuration files, because we want the setup to remain stable after future Webuzo updates.

What would be the recommended and officially supported way to implement this?

Thanks.]]>

Sorry to hear that you've had a frustrating experience.

To clarify, a paid license is required for only a small number of applications available through Softaculous, WHMCS being one of them. Around 99% of the applications in our library are open-source and free to use.

For applications like WHMCS that require a paid license, you would need to contact their team directly for a trial or licensing-related queries. Softaculous is an auto-installer that helps you install and manage applications; licensing, pricing, and trial availability are controlled by the respective application vendors.

Similarly, when an application is not updated in Softaculous, it is generally because the vendor has not released a new version for us to integrate. We can only provide updates when they are made available by the respective developers.

On the positive side, Softaculous offers hundreds of applications, the vast majority of which are free and open-source, and is used by millions of users worldwide.

We appreciate feedback and would be happy to understand the specific issues you’ve faced so we can clarify or help wherever possible.
