Topic : Why webuzo does not update PHP latest verison?

Posted By: priyankeshu on May 26, 2018, 6:38 am
i am planning to install wordpress but i see that webuzo has older version of php installed.

Now it is clear that old version of php is not advisable for wordpress blogs.

so why does nt webuzo update php with latest version? is there any reason to it?

what happens if i update php, will it effect my site real bad? or will it cause any kind of problems with wordpress installations?

Hi,PHP 5.6 is the default PHP for free Webuzo users if i am not wrong and will be upgraded when the team decide to do.
If you have a Premium license you can install (and use) other PHP version like 7.0 , 7.1 or 7.2 just going on App and search for PHP.

Free version is limited. So if you need bigger php version you should upgrade to pro as yearly licence is cheap.

i am using a full version trial.

a full version is supposed to have full version options?

PS: it has php7.1 installation option.

My question is, why does not it installs the latest PHP. Is there any technical reason why its not done already?

Have you added your trial license to it.As at the time (1 month back) I was testing it, all php versions were available on trial.
I just miss apache with http2 (not over nginx), that was the only reason I did not buy the licenseand am stil on shared hostig.

Free version of Webuzo support just one PHP version and if I am not wrong is 5.6. Premium user can install more script and also app so they will have available PHP 7.0 - 7.1 and 7.2
If you want install PHP 7.1 will be created a new PHP configuration. You can set PHP configuration by clicking on PHP icon on main Webuzo page.
A drop down menù will allow to select the desired version. After all configuration is set you can choose what default PHP application you want use.

Also the Premium version seems use PHP 5.6 by default, you can use a superior PHP version. Maybe by default is used the default PHP supported in Webuzo.
I prefer use an updated PHP for now I am using PHP 7.1

Hi,

To add to the discussion

PHP 5.6 is the default PHP version that is installed in Free as well as Premium version.

PHP 5.6 will continue to be the default PHP until PHP.net stops the support for it, after that we will provide the next supported version.

You can check here for the supported versions

On Premium version you can upgrade your PHP to any of the 7.x series. (whichever provides the best compatibility for your Websites)

@toplakd
>>I just miss apache with http2

We would have loved to support HTTP/2 for Apache 2.4 as well but sadly the library vendor has stopped support for the Prefork MPM in Apache (we use Prefork MPM for 2.2 as well as 2.4)

If they provide support in the future we will definitely provide it with our Apache.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Epeee, until PHP 5.6 still be supported should be ok the use of PHP 5.6.
Maybe I found here that Wordpress suggest to use PHP 7.2 or greater. In my case I am a Premium Webuzo user but I am unable to use PHP 7.2 not because of Webuzo but because I use OsTicket that are able to run actually only on PHP 7.0
I made some fix and i am using PHP 7.1, I tried to use PHP 7.2 but maybe not all application still supporting it so maybe Wordpress are suggesting to use last PHP version but you should be able to run a Wordpress blog with a supported PHP.
I suggest to try Webuzo Premium for free, if you have a VPS i feel the price is not excessive and you have great functions and a very kind and special dedicated support.
I am an happy Webuzo customer since more than two years.
