There are a a number of comments regarding AMPPS and MacOS Catalina. The fact is that there hasn’t been an update of AMPPS for years now, and the developers don’t even appear to take any note of this forum.
Apple had indicated for a very long time that it would stop supporting 32bit applications, and started issuing warnings over a year ago. As of Catalina, this has happened, and legacy applications, such as AMPPS, have bitten the dust.
Anybody who has used AMPPS for some time will already have noticed that the version is stuck in the past. It appears to have been completely abandoned, the developers have packed up and skipped the country, and are probably waiting for the domain to expire.
AMPPS had a number of good features, such as the ability to switch versions of PHP, even though it was limited to 21 bit, and easy installation of virtual hosts. However, that was the, and this is later.
If you want an alternative, the obvious alternative are XAMPP, MAMP and WAMP.
I myself have settled on XAMPP as being stable and workable. As regards virtual hosts, I have developed a tool which I have used for myself and for my students.
Forget AMPPS.
