 Problem updating installation data in a Softaculous DokuWiki installation (10 Replies, Read 27649 times)

I have setup a DokuWiki installation from Softaculous. During the setup process, i selected an admin name different than the default. Now, when i try to change any of the settings in that installation, i get the following message: The Admin username is incorrect and does not exist!
The funny thing is that i use this username (and the given password) to successfully login to this DokuWiki installation!
Any ideas?

Hi,


We have tested DokuWiki with following user name "wanderer" and it works fine.
Can you please mention the steps to reproduce this issue.

Two questions:
  1. Is the admin username case-sensitive?
  2. Is there a config file perhaps, where i can find the admin username to see how i had written it during installation?

The Admin Name must only contain Lower case Characters

You can check admin name from [[INSTALLED_PATH]]/conf/users.auth.php

It will be in following format :
# login:passwordhash:Real Name:email:groups,comma,separated
NOTE : "login" is admin name.

OK, i've finally understood what's going on.
When i went to this page and changed things, the username and password fields were filed (probably by the browser?). If the password field is not cleared, this message appears (which is misleading)! I cleared the field and the "save" process worked fine.

Anyway, i have changed the initial password from within DokuWiki, perhaps that's why the message appears. A new problem though is that even if i enter the new password, the message appears again. That is not an immediate problem, but what if i ever have to change the admin password from there?
P.S.: I noticed that there are two different files that seem to contain the password for the admin: users.auth.php and local.php. Maybe they are not in-sync?

You can use following method of Softaculous to Edit password :
https://www.softaculous.com/docs/enduser/reset-admin-password/

OR
You can also update password from DokuWiki dashboard :
[[URL]]/doku.php?id=start&do=profile

Well, that's what i was talking about. This method does not seem to work for me anymore. I get the "The Admin username is incorrect and does not exist!" message.

Well, that's where i managed to change my password from. The problem is that the first method should work too if for some reason the password has been forgotten or something.

Sorry for the inconvenience. We have updated and launched DokuWiki Edit utility. It works fine now.


Please run Softaculous CRON to get latest package. Let us know if you face any issue.

Hi,

You will only need updated DokuWiki package. Which you can get when cron runs. Ask your provider to run CRON command in order to get updated DokuWiki package.
