Hello, i have installed virtualizor on dedicated server of hetzner.

i have added storage /dev/vg0 but after adding it shows full in my panel but it's not full.

i then deleted that storage and go to ssh :
cd /
mkdir storage

then i added storage in virtualizor with Storage Type : FIle
File Format = QCOW2
Primary Storage = Yes

someone saying thar this will make issue in future like booting issues. what is your opinion guys ? will it really make issues ?

I would investigating the vg storage issue.
Using qcow2 have some nasty drawbacks that are not obvious. For example, you can´t migrate a vps to another node if the other node has other storage type. You will need to do that manually.
Backups are also not supported when using qcow2

Will it create serious issues in future like booting issue or data loss or kernel issues ?

Actually I want to use for production use. I want to sell VPS so first priority is safety of client's data.

Hi,

Backups are supported on that type on storage.

Booting or kernel related issues on server are not reported to us and using that storage type would not cause such issues.
You just need to keep an eye on actual space allotted to vpses and actual free space on that partition/directory to avoid that partition getting full, else vpses would get suspended when they grow in size when there is not free space left (Qcow2 supports over-selling hence that needs to be handled carefully).

Please feel free to ask more questions.

i have 7tb ent. hdd, 64gb ram, 8 core cpu.

i want to ask that is there any method from which i get notification when any of my user uses upto 90% of their storage.

and what do you mean by overselling? means vpses can use more storage than they have?

sorry for again asking, in place of qcow2 which one can i use?
i mean what do you recommend ?

I want to provide a better VPS to my clients, means production use.
so first priority is to safety of client's data and good performance and no issues from my side so what do you recommend?
which disk type , which file format and what do you recommend about these?

thanks

Hi,

Notification is not there yet for vps disk utilization.

>> No, but you can assign more than what you have.
Suppose a vps was assigned 100Gb and you have 100Gb of storage space left and the vps is only using 50Gb then that 50Gb can be used to create another vps.
But if both vpses start using space at the full capacity assigned to them then vpses will get suspended  as they would search for more free space but it does not exists on server.

You can try regular RAW LVM based storage if you are not sure about Qcow2 or thin-provisioning (over-selling).
That should not be much of an issue.

regarding performance, I would recommend using NVMe or SSD instead of enterprise hdd.
We are currently upgrading our infrastructure to 100% NVMe and really... this is fat!

And right, backups are possible now with qcow2. Since we always used lvm, I remembered an old information from the board here (but that was from 2015 :-) ) sorry for that.

Can you guys help me a little bit?
Actually I am trying from yesterday, reinstalled OS and done resetup more than 20 times.

Actually the issue is Hetzner IPs not working.

I have purchased a /29 Subnet IPv4 from hetzner.

I have added in IP Pools but it's not working. I read some threads they says that Enable NAT but I didn't see any NAT Option while creating IP Pools.

One Guy told me that ask hetzner of Mac Address of Every IP of Subnet then add every IP one by one but Hetzner said Mac Address not possible on Subnet.

I have configured gateway and something on ifcfg-enp031f6 something I don't remember tname. and after configuring it , server goes down and didn't up so at the end Everytime I have to reinstall OS via Rescue Mode.

Oh God ! I am literally tired of, repeated everything more than 20 times.

I request that anyone please tell me .

1. What I have to configure in LVM or any PARTITION while installing CentOS 7.8 or 7.9 to use LVM on Virtualizor Storage. If possible please tell steps.

2. Can you tell me every step for adding hetzner subnet in Virtualizor
