Topic : root pw not working in phpmyadmin

Posted By: dmcclain on August 21, 2018, 3:18 pm
OS Name with Version

El Capitan 10.11.6

AMPPS Version

3.6

Starting getting "Error establishing a database connection" on many of my WordPress sites; apparently a mysql username was dropped or corrupted, as well as the root password.

I've tried to repair this manually by editing the password in my.conf (verified 'root' is the admin) but this is still not giving me root access.
I can login under root, to a handful of WordPress sites which use their own user/pw, but I can't find a way to restore access to the other databases.
Any advice?
thx,-d

If it helps, I do have an old Time Machine backup from months ago (it turned itself off, for some reason) -- could I restore some files from the phpmyadmin folder to regain access without overwriting any recent databases?

Hey something worked! I can cancel this request now; I'm into root again.

Now trying to figure out how to restore the User list.
