Hi , total newb here with AMPPS , with newb questions

I would like to have multiple local test sites that i hope i can migrate later to a live server with backup-buddy.

I have one instance up and running with AMPPS - 127.0.0.1/wp/

What's the right way to add other installs of wordpress , do i have to add a domain or is that not neccesary ?

Can i name the installs to identify them better ?  .. ie not /wp/

Will backup-buddy migrate and import ok ?

sorry for the newb questions !

Hi,

If you already know what domain you are going to use you can add your domain to AMPPS and then select the domain on install page. Here is the guide for the same :

If you want to install WordPress in sub directories you can fill in your desired directory in the "In Directory" field on the install form.

You can backup and restore on the server but you will have to change all the instances of your path (local paths to server paths) in the database manually when your migrate.

ampps needs a local DNS server software. Telling someone that doesn't know how to even use a database that they will have to modify their database is, to put it simply, not ok.
I just ran into this problem with Webuzo. Luckily we have an internal DNS server.

i think on my ampps service i run more than 200 domains and subdomains in a windows 64 bit  environment.

if you use windows you can use for dns simple dns plus.

i have tested my self webuzo on centos and there is nothing wrong with the dnssystem in webuzo (however this is ampps forum...)

you need some skills if you need to run multidomains or subdomains...

i run on my single ip  multi servers op 1 open line with dmz and one static ip

you only need the skills of apache ,handlers and proxyservers and virtualhosts...

and alot of years begind a computer (i work with pc from 1982 in a b.b.s  environment thats some think else
