It´s a mixed node I was looking for but mainly with Windows guests.
btw. which virtualization are you using? It sounds like you are using xen?

I am using KVM virtualization
Also opened ticket with virtualizor they reply that

Hi,

Currently , Windows VPS utilizes the full RAM allocated to it on the server.

Please let us know if you need any further information.

Regards,
Virtualizor Support

Very confused now

Strange...was not aware about this and never had an issue (we only have mixed nodes and always more RAM than we actually need). Just thinking about how this could be possible. The guest OS should not care as it is advertised the amount of RAM it expects. KVM should also don´t care.. a guest is a guest.

Windows is known to zero out all RAM pages at startup (thus consuming all the memory), but then the balloon driver is loaded which should regulate memory consumption/assignment. (That´s what the driver is for...)
Interesting. Will investigate this further.

Hello,

Same problem here.

If we create a Linux VPS with 30GB of RAM, the VPS consume only what it needs

If the VPS is Windows, on startup it take the full RAM (30GB)

Have a look here, I made a small video for you.
https://wolkenbauer.screencasthost.com/virtio
You should get an idea of what to install.

1. Install the guest-Agent from the ISO DVD as you would install any other software.
2. Goto System management / Device manager to install the 3 drivers shown in the video (you probably already have install the scsi driver during windows install), but balloon, network and Storage drivers are essential.

Have fun :-)

I don´t have that anymore. But it is straight forward to install the drivers necessary, just follow the steps outlined in the post (and add a reboot after installing guest-agent!)
