Topic : Update AMPPS automatically

I have AMPPS installed on my Macbook Air OS X El Capitan 10.11.6.

My AMPPS version (according to the "About" info) is 3.2 and says "AMPPS is up to date" which is puzzling since AMPPS 3.8 has just been released.

My AMPPS dashboard page says "Powered By AMPPS 4.9.3". I assume that this means Softaculous 4.9.3.

Is there a way to automatically update to version 3.8 of AMPPS? Why would I have the most recent version of Softaculous (4.9.3) but an older version of AMPPS (3.2)?

I followed the guide and it completely broke. Only get "A 50X error occurred" when I load anything.

The guide says to change to php 5.5. When I up opened it back up again it was at php 5.6. Trying to change it to 7.0 results in indefinite "loading..." And as I said, "A 50X error occurred" everwhere else.

Windows 10. AMPPS 3.6 -> 3.8

Try this:

Open Terminal and run following command:

chmod -R 755 /Applications/AMPPS

I'm on Windows 10. There is no chmod command.

Since I was referred to a page describing how to manually update AMPPS, I assume that the answer to my question is that there is no way to update AMPPS automatically.

Regarding manual update the steps described are:

cd /Applications/Ampps
sudo /Applications/AMPPS/extra/bin/7za x -r -y /path/to/Ampps-mac-3.8.7z
Enter your Mac-Pc sudo password.
sudo chmod -R 755 /Applications/AMPPS

What is Mac-Pc sudo password? Is that the admin password?

I followed the instructions and I was able to update AMPPS and get AMPPS to launch however when I click on the AMPPS Home icon, I see the following message:

"Site error: the ionCube PHP Loader needs to be installed. This is a widely used PHP extension for running ionCube protected PHP code, website security and malware blocking. Please visit get-loader.ioncube.com for install assistance."

Is the ionCube PHP Loader installation a normal part of the AMPPS installation and, if so, would you recommend using the Loader Wizard? Thanks.

After extracting Ampps-mac-3.8.7z, I see some of the same folders in the AMPPS directory. I see a PHP-5.3 and PHP-5.6 folders. I do not ee a PHP-7 folder. When I launch AMPPS, PHP 5.6 is shown in the AMPPS dashboard.

Here's the procedure I used for updating AMPPS:
Stop ampps server processes (Apache, MySQL etc)
Backup AMPPS folder (has ampps logo)
Download Ampps-mac-3.8.7z
Issue following commands:
cd /Applications/Ampps
sudo /Applications/AMPPS/extra/bin/7za x -r -y /Users/myusername/Downloads/Ampps-mac-3.8.7z
Enter my Mac-Pc sudo password.
sudo chmod -R 755 /Applications/AMPPS

Perhaps that was not the correct procedure? I thought that maybe I should remove the old AMPPS folder from Applications before extracting but that was not mentioned in the update instructions. Did I use the correct procedure? Thanks.
