Hi,  I recently installed AMPPS on a Win8 PC.  When I enter "localhost" in a browser, a Large IIS 8 image appears. . .If I go to Change properties, IIS is not selected.  I also think this Port 80 issue is rearing its head - I need to know if the Port can be changed within AMPPS components of if this has to be amended in the other programs.  I am also running Kaspersky - not sure if this is also an issue !!

Hi,

You need to stop IIS to free port 80 as AMPPS apache requires port 80. We don't recommend to change the apache port other then 80 as Softaculous AMPPS(Auto Installer) which is an addon in AMPPS requires port 80.

If you just want to use only the AMPPS stack then you can change the apache port in its configuration file(Goto AMPPS Control Center->Apache->Configuration and search for "Listen 80" string and replace 80 with any other port of your choice and save the file).

Hi,  What is the best way to Stop IIS & does this have to be done everytime one uses AMPPS Apache ?? As mentioned, the IIS did not appear to be selected so I thought it would have no impact....

Hi,

You can stop IIS from service control manager (Start -> Run -> services.msc) and in Windows 8 just search run, press enter and type services.msc

Also from properties you can stop it permanently. ie you won't have to stop IIS every time you restart your computer.
