Softaculous

Topic : Consider CMS Made Simple custom admin dir

Not sure if this post belongs in the suggestions board, so please feel free to move it.

First of all: thank you for this great product.

I've noticed during the use of the Softaculous 'clone' and 'create staging' features it does not take into account that the standard 'admin' folder can be renamed. As a result such a renamed admin folder is not copied to the staging/cloned site.

Renaming the default admin folder is good practice for security reasons.

It needs to be mentioned that during upgrades of CMS Made Simple using the installer from CMS Made Simple itself, the admin dir must not be renamed.

I don't know how Softaculous works in the background but it would be nice if:

- it takes into account the possibility that the admin dir has been renamed when cloning or staging the sit
- the same if possible during an upgrade from one version to another

It's easy to find out about a renamed admin dir by reading the /config.php file for the value - if exists - of the variable $config['admin_dir']
If it exists and != 'admin' (and perhaps != empty sting) the 'admin' folder has been renamed to the value of this variable.

More information about this option can be found on the official CMS Made Simple website: Unfortunately I'm not yet allowed to post an url. The configuration option can be found under Configuration > config.php > config.php Reference > admin_dir

Thank you in advance.
