Topic : Process to upgrade from AMPPS 3.3 to 3.4?

Posted By: psale1 on January 22, 2016, 8:25 pm
Running AMPPS on Windows 7 Professional

Two weeks ago I successfully installed Ampps 3.3, and developed two
Wordpress ("WP") sites.  Without losing all the work I put into building
those two WP sites, I would now like to "upgrade" from Ampps 3.3 to 3.4.  I
can find no detailed instructions for how to complete this process.

For example, if I install Ampps 3.4 into the same directory as 3.3, my
attempts to start my WP installs fail, displaying an error message
complaining about a database error.  If I install Ampps into a new
directory, then my two WP installs do not even appear. Please advise.

I reviewed the info at the URL you provided. Many thanks for that.  See below.
  • Please make sure you have backup copy of Ampps before performing update.
  • For Windows extract Ampps-win-3.4.7z over Ampps.
I believe that I correctly understand the second item, "...extract Ampps-win-3.4.7z over Ampps".  However, how am I to make a "backup copy of Ampps..."?  The only sort of "backup copy" that I can think of is to simply drag and drop a copy of the Ampps folder to, say, an AmppsBAK folder.  Is that what you mean for me to do?

Hi,

Instead of taking a full backup of Ampps folder. You can simply just take a backup of your Installation and database.

Take Backup copy of following folder.

Ampps/www
Ampps/ mysql/data/ (Windows)
Ampps/var (For Linux and Mac OS)
Ampps/private/
Ampps/tmp
Ampps/conf

I get the same issue, it should NEVER happen !
AMPPS is far too complicated to setup and upgrade, I was using MAMP before and I start regretting my change ...

Installing and setup (wwwroot where one want)  and upgrading ,  should be easy simple and without bugs
I cannot work today because I have no server

I upgraded from 3.1 to 3.4 right now and get a PHP Error:

How to handle that?

Thanks.

OK, problem solved now by using the Reset of the PHP Configuration.

Thanks to support for their fast answer to my Ticket.

Cheers!
