Topic : Timeouts on Software Updates

In installing the updates for the web server components, I am seeing frequent time-out errors. The process never completes. Then reload the page & some of the extension packages were updated while others were not. The error message:

"The connection was lost."

How to know if there were any errors in the upgrade process, i.e. are there any diagnostics installed on the web server to maintain packages?
