The default my.ini has max_allowed_packet=1M under the [mysqld] section and max_allowed_packet=16M under [mysqldump] sections.
This actually mean that if run a backup with mysqldump and try to restore it with mysqld you will get an 2006 Error the server has gone away.
Both setting should have the same value. Either 16M or 1M.
I tried this on the windows verison on AMPPS 3.3.
