Hi,

Please use this link to access the docs :

https://www.virtualizor.com/docs/faq/disaster-recovery/

It does not work as written to recover a slave with both kvm and openvz.

You have to backup the files indicated in the document. For OpenVZ 7 backup ALL the files in /vz/private including the hidden files but not root.hds.

After having everything backup then reinstall OpenVZ 7 on the slave and Virtualizor. Put the config files back in place. Recover universal.php and reset the database password in the file with the new one.

For KVM prlctl register /vz/vmprivate/UUID (this is not mentioned in the documentation)
Then you can recover from the backup.

For OpenVZ 7 you have to reinstall the OS for each VM from the panel. Then you can recover from the backup. (This is not in the documentation).]]>

Hi,

For disaster recovery , you can have a look at this guide :

This page does not exist. Please correct.]]>

Total is $10/mo? Is this correct?

>> Yes, but using a master-only panel is not mandatory.
By default every new install will set the panel to stand-alone master server.
You can add it as slave using this guide :

https://www.virtualizor.com/docs/install/add-server

The backup plan:

>> If you want to have a separate backup server then you can add it from Servers->Add backup servers.
And use that backup server in vps backup and also for database backups

The extra space plan:
>> Vps can use space from storage added on panel.
If there is space is same type of storage then you can increase primary disk space.
You can even have multiple disks for vps from multiple storage on panel.

But using a storage space from another slave is not possible, unless its a shared storage and it is available across servers and also present on panel as storage.

Can you confirm the following licenses we need to purchase to get this started:

The license plan:
- 1 VPS node license for the master only we'll be installing @ $1/mo?
- 9/Unlimited node license for the slave we'll install VPS to @ $9/mo?
Total is $10/mo? Is this correct?

The backup plan:
- The master box we license should have a secondary server for the backup for just the master?
- Unlimited VPS node we have for customers will also be licensed but we need to also add another server beside it for backing up the VPSes automatically.

The extra space plan:
- For now we will install a box that will just be used for the extra space we need to allocate to VPSes that require more space over time.  We want this to be very simple without any "adding space" issues in the UI for any VPS we need to give more HD space to.  I'm thinking a box with a 2TB HD.

I'm curious about "adding space" to the VPSes from other servers... so I need to know the best way to get that working based on just adding new servers with more room.  For example, if we plug in a new server with 2TB, can we allocate say 5GB from this to another server we host not from the same datacenter?  Let's assume we have a slave box with VPSes in New York but the primary server that offers the HD space is located in Canada.  Can the box in Canada give space to the VPS in New York? How could this be achieved? meaning which mode would work best from the available 5 different types of storage adding?

Thanks in advance.

We do not have any paid service nor we can recommend any but our guide should be enough which can help you through such a situation.

If even following our guide is not helping you then we can help you in that.]]>

Does your team offer a service that if this happens the disaster recovery service can be paid for? In the event we don't want to tackle this ourselves?  I understand your team is PRO software development which you've come a great way with this product.. hands down! but for the clients who are already established and want to have their hands held during a disaster event? If not, do you have any 3rd party providers that offer this service who know your product inside and out?

Thanks guys]]>

You can view this guide to setup backup plans that can be used to create vps backups and restore them when required.

https://www.virtualizor.com/docs/admin/backup-plans

For disaster recovery , you can have a look at this guide :

https://www.virtualizor.com/blog/docs/faq/disaster-recovery/

And are you going to use WHMCS/Blesta billing modules as well ?
Users can choose upgrade options from there and get their vps resources upgraded whenever required.

You can reach us on ticket and on chat as well.]]>

Does your team offer a service where your customers advise the setup required and you can be commissioned to help us with that setup for a fee?

The pain points we will be dealing with is how to properly setup a scalable service where all the VPSes we add to the servers can have their HDD's increased as required.  The idea is to set all VPS on 10GB and plug in a few servers for space to be used when a customer demands more space.

The other things we will require is what steps to perform to restore a VPS that is broken or won't come back up .. and the ability for our team to restore from a working snapshot.  If documentation is available for this, great... but having a point of contact with your team regarding these issues would be preferable (and not on the public forum) so if you can point me in a direction for this type of contact or communication with your services, would be great to know before we get this going.

Basically we're looking for some guidance (in the beginning) and a point of contact on those "my VPS is down" moments that we may face but need to have a "plan b" to serve the customer in the most professional way possible.

Thanks in advance.]]>
