Topic : Alias Manager

Posted By: wgbieber on April 28, 2014, 6:41 pm
Hi,

I've just switched to AMPPS and it's looking really good so far

One question concerning the usage of aliases :
Is there any character limitation (or any other restriction) concerning what is allowed as alias name?

If I use more than 16  characters then the following message appears: "Error
Special characters are not allowed in Alias Name"

Thanks
Wolfgang

System: OSX 10.9.2 ; AMPPS version 2.3

Hi,

Attached is the patch to allow more characters.

Replace it with /Applications/AMPPS/ampps/softaculous/enduser/main/alias.php

Hi
Just started exploring the brilliant Ampps stack.

I have searched high and low but cannot find any tutorial on how to use the Alias Manager.

I have created the alias that I want, but as a novice I do not know use it or what to do next.

Can someone please assist with a tutorial or links to documentation.

Kind Regards

Jack

Hi,

You may want to access your site in a simple way such as http://localhost/abc instead of http://localhost/projects/a/abc.com

Also if you want your script web root to be other than Ampps/www folder, you can use alias.

Suppose if you have created an alias :

Alias Name : abc
Path : /User/username/abcproject

For more regarding Apache Alias refer this.

I'm trying to add an alias with periods but I'm getting the special characters error. Any way around that?

I see this alias.php attachment as having the exact same code as my AMPPS 2.9 version (which is a little strange as I was allowed to use a dot in my 2.9 version).
