Wrong for what?

For OpenVZ it´s wrong, KVM should run fine.

why? You only need to check the "use distribution kernel" on server setup. Otherwise ovh may use their own kernel which is not usable because of missing dynamic kernel module support.

I had this a few times and on exact same hardware. One worked, another did not. You should contact ovh support to fix this.

I can say that Virtualizor works on OVH as login as you do not use their kernel. They have added a selection to use Distribution Kernel which they never had up until recently.

We have 4 servers on Virtualizor with OVH and never had any issues. We use Centos 7.4

Use CentOS 7.4 and make sure you ticket the box when setting up the server that states 'Use Original Kernel" which is on the page where you can enter a hostname.

We use KVM on CentOS 7.4 on all our clusters so I can only advise on that and not OpenVZ.
